During the early 1980's, Lanny formed a jazz quintet with his brother Dave, "The Grilly Brothers," which featured such local greats as bassist, Mike Arnopol (Patricia Barber), and vibist, Kathy Kelly. The "Grilly Brothers" talented ensemble was featured at the 1980 Chicago Jazz Festival, where they opened for Ahmad Jamal. After many years of leading their own bands, Dave & Lanny recently reunited to re-form "The Grilly Brothers." They will be playing at the major jazz venues & jazz festivals such as; The WeatherMark in Chicago’s new hip south loop area, and The Green Dolphin Street in Lincoln Park. Dave is also a talented video producer, and Lanny owns & operates Swing Odyssey Recording Studio in Evanston, Illinois

Keyboardist, Jeff Kier, has been a star attraction at every major jazz club in Chicago. In addition to performing on acoustic piano, organ, and various electric keyboards/synthesizers, Jeff is a prolific composer. Nick is our renaissance man in the group. He has made his mark as a stellar jazz & classical musician, recording artist, lecturer, clinician, author, and as an award-winning educator. His trumpet soloing also kicks butt!

Besides touring with the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra, Nick has played for such entertainment superstars as: Sammy Davis, Jr., Bill Cosby, Melissa Manchester, Rich Little ,John Denver ,The Spinners ,The Temptations , Gladys Knight and the Pips, Patti Page, Frankie Lane , Della Resse , Carole Lawrence, Robert Goulet, Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme, Fred Rogers (Mr.Rogers), Bobby Vinton, Vic Damone, Frankie Avalon, Diahann Carroll, Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Helen O'Connell, Pat Boone, Lawrence Welk All Stars (Myron Floren and Company), Dick Shawn, George Kirby, Jack Jones, Liberace, Julie Budd,Tex Beneke and these are just to name a few.

Mike Arnopol was responsible for the direction as well as the name of the original "Grilly Brothers Quintet" in the late '70's.

Mike has since made his mark in the international jazz scene as the stalwart accompianist to the remowned piantst, Patricia Barber. Mike has played in every major jazz festival & jazz club in the world. He is also a sought after studio musician and has been featured on all of Patricia Barber's CD's, as well as recording with Jimmy Raney, Larry Coryell, Lee Konitz, Diane Delin, Ron Surace, Zack Brock, Jordan Baskin, and Jens Bunge
